How long does nook tablet battery last

My Nook was only a few years old. It was released in , but then my first one developed a defect so I got a refurb as a replacement in , then it died in late What about you? How long did it last? After about a year, the battery went bad. I purchased a new battery and used YouTube videos to install it. I found out that while it is not difficult to take off the cover and install a new battery, re-aligning the cover and the backing is very problematic.

After 3 attempts, the alignment is not as good as the original. About 6 months after installing the new battery, the touch screen went bad.

I tried recharging, to no avail. I let it sit for a month- this time recharging was successful. Maybe it was the cold weather. After nearly a year after that problem, and over 3 years after I bought the Simple Touch, the old battery is still going.

When it goes, who knows? My first e-reader was the Kindle Keyboard 3 that I purchased in October However, the Nook Glowlight was notorious for screen tears. Six inch e-readers are getting cheaper, to the extent that repairing them is not worth the time or cost. That is problematic, as it leads to waste — replaceable batteries, like many smartphones, would make a huge difference.

Generally, my experience with e-ink devices and battery life has been very positive. My 1st gen Nook still holds a charge, but I have to charge it every day instead of every week. The Galaxy Tab is still working fine. My Sony PRS still works. There are videos on YouTube showing how its battery can be replaced. The same applies for other brands of e-readers. The 1st gen Nook was designed with a replaceable battery, which is not the case for the Simple Touch- so getting the cover on and off should be easier for the 1st gen Nook.

I am thinking of factory resetting it. But maybe I'll delete a bunch of apps, first. Was getting precipitous battery drops So I factory reset and did not select root was surprised I had the option, I wonder if the same holds true when factory resetting a rooted HD?

So now to see how the battery reacts. My 11 dd seems to be the one who uses this tablet the most and says she doesn't need any Amazon apps on it, so we'll keep it like that, for now. I never leave it with the wireless on, but if I don't use it for a day or two, it'll need a full charge.

It's been idle since I reset it and the battery is holding like it's supposed to. It was probably some app leftover or something draining it in the background.

And even after it was deleted, it kept draining the battery until I rebooted! Never had that happen before, but I'm not using it again after that. You can try using apps to check your battery drain, I like GSam Battery Monitor, it helps you narrow things down a lot.

And if you buy the icon pack you can overlay the default battery icon with a much nicer one that has numbers on it. I was having this same issue, and it just started happening. I hope this fixed it. It hasn't had "heavy" use. So I guess if it lasts til next June I'll have to say we got our money's worth. Originally Posted by booklover6. Originally Posted by Anthem.
