Why is ibrox called castle grayskull
Start new topic. Recommended Posts. Posted December 25, Surely Snake Mountain would be more of an insult or does it just prove once again that Celtic fans are all stupid? Coopermania 1 Posted December 26, Ted E Bayer Posted December 26, All very true but maybe it's just cazuse it looks kind of scarey which it does Del Juve 1 Posted December 26, Thermopylae 10, Posted December 26, Ibroxblue Posted December 26, Parkhead is Snake Mountain.
This and other reasons. Apparently she is a Kilmarnock fan but after this she is more than welcome to Celtic Park any time.
Kirsty McCabe sparked a barrage of complaints from outraged Gers fans after using the jibe in a breakfast time forecast on national TV. The derogatory Greyskull nickname for Ibrox is popular among Celtic fans and other rival supporters. Castle Greyskull is the dark home of the evil Skeletor.
Kirsty incensed Rangers fans, prior to their team's SPL clash with Livingston, by telling them to "wrap up warm if they are heading for Castle Greyskull". Last night, a BBC spokesman issued an apology on Kirsty's behalf and said she was a Kilmarnock fan still sore at the loss of star striker Kris Boyd to Rangers. Unlike the lowlifes from Weggieworld the rest of us don't live our lifes around when the next march is.
Should we all consult our calenders to find out when the next march is so that we don't upset ayone from Scumland with comments? Had she refered to Parkhead by some alternative name would you have even bothered to mention all the sectarian bullshit and would you have even posted a comment on it? This shows that some people lack a serious sence of humour. So would you like to see the girl sacked???
The sooner you all leave and go to Engerland the better. In fact, it's become associated with sectarian comentary to such a degree that even Celtic FC disassociated themselves from a book that called Ibrox that. What should have been inferred by reading my post was that of all the days to mention such a term, it had to be that day. Odd timing indeed. However, I'll accept your comments -- it could well just have been bad timing from her.
Does the context exist here? A fair question -- but as I mentioned: of all the days, and of all the grounds. Not so much against Kirsty McCabe who could well be just a daft lassie with no idea of what she was saying. So, she's apologised. Let's hope that we don't hear any other nicknames for grounds or fans such as Castle Dracula, the HIVs, or whatever.
Do I refer to every ground by its proper name? Not once in the 5 years that I've been on here have I ever named a ground anything other than its proper name. That's what it's there for. Why all the sectarian bullshit? Well, unfortunately the term "Castle Greyskull" has been appropriated by certain elements and has been revised in meaning see the Sunday Mail. I may be an argumentative so-and-so, but I'm not some mad sectarian nutjob.
I mentioned the other big Glasgow football club-related news, just to show how rubbish the BBC are at reporting stuff. Refer to Glaswegians by that forever by all means. It may interest you to know that Glasgow has no similar term for Edinburghers. Ask any Celtic fan on here if I would. Joined: Jan 14, Messages: 7, Likes Received: 0. The women is on public TV broadcasting the weather and has to act professional baring in mind she is under the public eye and to refer to Ibrox as that is being very unprofessional.
Tru Blu Stop - Broontime! She's a Killie fan and called Ibrox Castle Greyskull for a joke. Well done to her for having the balls to say it on live telly. Why not? It doesnt mean anything sectarian and yes it may be unprofessional but really, who cares?
